International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world every May 12, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth.

(Florence Nightingale was an English social reformer and the founder of modern nursing.)

The theme for this year’s event is ‘Our Nurses, Our Future’ and is intended to spur discussion as to what we want for nursing in the future in order to address the global health challenges and improve global health for all.

On behalf of Alinea, our Executive Director Shane Yensch salutes all of our hardworking nurses: “Nursing is such an essential profession supporting the wellbeing of all. It is particularly critical to our elders in care. I am proud of the nurses in our facilities that go beyond in providing that little bit extra comfort with a smile or holding a hand, delivering clinical care with empathy and compassion.”
