Today, residents and staff at Ritcher Lodge in Bayswater celebrated the facility’s 40th anniversary.
The roots of our aged care services go back to one of Alinea’s forerunner organisations, the Civilian Maimed & Limbless Association.
The original vision was to build a village complex to provide accessible accommodation for persons with a disability, particularly amputees. Accordingly, land was acquired in Bayswater in 1975, but plans were reassessed over time and, eventually, a decision was made to broaden the availability of the independent villas to retirees. Ultimately, 59 villas were built, and the site was named the Camelia Court retirement village.
Over time, further plans were developed at the same location and, in 1984, Ritcher Lodge, a 45-bed aged care facility, was opened.
Alinea commends all the nursing and care staff who, thanks to their hard work over many years, have delivered the four-decade legacy that is Ritcher Lodge.
