Despite the bitter cold and drizzling morning weather on Sunday the 30th of June, people from all over Perth came in droves to queue up outside the ParaQuad Industries’ Hall. You could feel the excitement with lots of familiar faces amongst the crowd. One thing everyone had in common; they were all ready and eager to scout out all the amazing bargains curated inside. After weeks of preparation and the tireless efforts of staff and countless volunteers, it was finally 9am and time to open the doors for the 2019 ‘Scroungers’ Garage Sale.
Every table was piled high and the warehouse was choc-filled with all manner of objects and curiosities. Whether you were looking for white goods, household items, second-hand furniture, good quality toys or general bric-a-brac; there was something on offer for everyone. As if all that was not enough, Opportunity Knocks and the Book Bazaar were also open for business with plenty of reduced items available for savvy hunters.
A flow of coffees and sizzled sausages provided a welcoming pit-stop to weary bargain hunters while live music set the tempo for those still searching for that ‘special something’. As quickly as it all began, it was suddenly 12:30pm and time to close the doors once more.
Once the hustle and bustle of the crowds had cleared, the same dedicated staff and volunteers who had already given so much of their time to set up the event got straight back to work packing up and cleaning the facilities and thus concluded yet another successful ‘Scroungers’ Garage Sale.
Thanks to everyone involved and everyone who attended, ParaQuad Industries was able to raise crucial funds which will help the Organisation continue to support to people living with a disability in Western Australia.
